On Wednesday 13 October I had a meeting with Chris Rehberger at his studio Double Standards in Strausberger Platz. The studio was an informal and lively environment that held a wonderful position on Karl Marx Allee.

Chris has a particular penchant for creative matters other than strict graphic design. He refuses to be pigeonholed as a two dimensional graphic designer and maintains a variety of interests. These other interests have led Chris to broaden his creative palette extending the studio to embrace disciplines beyond traditional graphic design practice.

While print related design comprises the majority of the work with which Double Standards is engaged, Chris confidently moves across disciplines. The multi-disciplinary approach of the studio has ensured a diversity of projects including film and video production, interior architectural installations, music production, lighting design and traditional two dimensional graphic design for print and online applications.

The film and video production for which Chris has received much praise started with a modest music related project and blossomed. These activities became so successful Chris established a dedicated production company.

Although these moves appear easy and simple in retrospect Chris explained they required great effort. These cross disciplinary forays are fearless perhaps but certainly not effortless. Chris possesses a wonderfully buoyant approach. He simply picks up the available tools and learns how to use them.

Chris has an optimism for possibility that is encouraging and infectious. His determination to tackle anything that crosses his path is inspiring.

Vielen Dank Chris.
